My wife was showing me some very nice houses in one of the more expensive areas to live in the SF bay area. There are all pretty big houses in a quiet neighbourhood in the hills. Pretty much all of them are in the 7 figures so damn expensive. A lot of them though were pretty damn ugly in their decoration. Just because something looks expensive doesn't actually make it stylish or nice. It is amazing how people with money let themselves be influenced badly or have no idea of what actually looks good.
You would think they would take a moment to look at what they have and actually make it pleasing to the eye. Not just looks expensive but looks good. Good stuff doesn't have to cost a lot, true it sometimes costs more than the cheapest crap (usually just down to quality of materials and assembly), but just because something is the or close to the most expensive doesn't make it the best in form and function.
I would love to buy my wife a house away from people like one of those. A nice quiet area, not too close to your neighbours and enough room for all the things we want to do in our house. It just seems unfair that those who really have no idea with what to do with what they have get to do it when others (yes I am including us in this :) ) have a true idea of what they want to do with their lives but not the means to do it.
