Since my laptop is dead my wife donated her laptop to me (since she has her big desktop machine that she mostly uses at home) for me to use when I need to work at home. We spent a bit of last night getting the laptop up to date with the latest Mac OS X since it was a little out of date after not being used much recently. That took only 2 hours, one DVD and about 1.5Gig of patch downloads.... Tonight will involve setting up boot camp and loading windows 7 on it (blasphemy to my wife) and seeing if I can get it to run everything I need to work from home. The development environment we use takes a lot of oomph as it were to run which is why my dead laptop was a pretty beefy one at the time (and still is really, just a few years old).
Almost managed to fail at having breakfast this morning, I only had a little bit of cereal left in my boxes here at work so it ended up being a mixture of honey nut cheerios and cocoa krispies. It came out surprisingly tasty, I may try it again tomorrow when I get some new cereal.
For the last week I've been playing Portal 2 which is a very very good game. It was so good that once I finished it (took about 10 hours) I then went through and played it again. The humour in it is very well done and the puzzles, although not as difficult as the first game, are fun to solve and don't overly rely on one solution type. They mix things up continuously through the game so it doesn't get stale and repetitive. I even did a little bit of the coop mode split screen (since the PSN is still down) using two controllers to try that out. I recommend this game to anyone who has a device capable of playing it.
Going to go sort out a birthday present for my wife now since that is coming up fast and I have a good idea for a change of something nice to get her. And if my wife reads this (which I know she will at some point today), no I won't give you any hints as to what it is.
your wife sounds like a doormatty angel :|
