17 bytes

Gah, currently hunting a small memory leak of 17 bytes. How much is that you ask? "Enough for this!!" or at least the characters within the quotes. If I went unicode it would be "just this". Not much in the grand scheme of things but enough over time to kill a node in a few weeks. I'm betting it was all because of some sloppy programming somewhere as freaking usual. Ah the joy of other peoples shit to be cleaned up, even more fun when they don't work here any more.

Why am I doing this you ask? Because most people can't actually track down this kind of stuff. It is not difficult but people just don't seem to understand memory management and expect it to just happen. Somewhere behind the scenes you need to clean up your memory. The bloat you see some programs with now (Outlook is currently using over 100Meg of memory on this PC for example) is because of this. People simple don't clean up behind them. Well, when you are running on a system where using more than 10Meg gets frowned on you can't get away with crap like that.

Time to go sort this out and finish this venting.
