Evil evil games

I played a game last year that ended up being so stressful and harrowing while playing it I actually stopped playing it and didn't finish it. For me that is rare, when I start a game I will finish it (unless it has game breaking bugs like Far Cry 2), something to do with the completionist in me I think. The game I didn't finish though is Demons Souls, a game that at every turn is trying to kill you, requires you to know what you are doing exactly and is punishing when you die. You will die often and repeatedly, the game is very old school in being unrelenting in what it throws at you. It took a lot of people by surprise and despite being nasty and brutal is actually quite a lot of fun. Mainly from the accomplishment you get when you finally beat something, admittedly then to fall prey to the next nasty thing around the corner, but still.

Now I see this trailer for Dark Souls, the sequel to that previous game. They are playing up the fact that you will die, a lot. It is nice to see a developer sticking to something that worked and putting out more. To give you an idea of what they are doing now though did you catch the freaking giant wolf holding a huge 20 foot long sword? *runs screaming away*
