Being hassled

There is something about actually physically being in the office that makes people seem to want to talk to me more than when I'm working from home. I'm not always talking about coming up to me in my cubicle but even over IM as well. I can spend an entire day working from home, get a few things done and have nobody else talk to me about anything. Half a day in the office though and all sorts of people want to talk to me about various things, more than a fair share of them pretty inane.

It is amazing how much better it can be working from home. Not only do people rarely hassle me but most importantly I get to physically be with my wife all day. I may annoy her a bit but I know she prefers it as well. I don't have to commute, get a little bit more of a lay in in bed and can wear whatever I feel like rather than having to get work dressed as it were. I think for professions like mine more and more companies need to realise physical location doesn't mean much. The team of people I work with are split across three different locations in the US and we also interact with people in other countries. Despite this we are the most productive part of the company, achieving more with less than anybody else. It is frustrating to say the least.

So to all my work colleagues out there wanting to hassle me, don't :P . I like my peace and quiet and getting on with what I have to do. Oh and don't complain when I hassle you, I always have a very good reason for it :) .
