Glad thats over

To nobodies surprise (except maybe rich old white men) Obama got reelected last night. It also seems most of the country didn't go mad and was actually sensible in their voting. The rape idiots lost, Maine and Maryland legalised gay marriage, Minnesota voted against a gay marriage ban (take note idiot Californians) and the US Senate has its first lesbian member, its first disabled female member and first Asian American female member. It seems that women voters held a lot of sway this election, there are more of them overall, and the results speak to the downright hideousness of the republican position.

What strikes me as silly though is all the media who called this as a close election. The electoral college makes sure it is not close. Even if each state was won by a single vote it is possible to win all of the electoral college votes and win by a landslide. The final result now shows this to be the case, a sizable win even though the total number of votes for each candidate only just favours Obama. There really wasn't much doubt about the outcome as long as Obama won a few marginal states which he did handily.

In other important news I got my 16th platinum trophy on my PS3 last night. Seems strange to have that many given how hard some of them are to obtain. Oh and I also started reading another book last night. A sequel to a series of books I read when I was younger and that was written almost 20 years after the first 6 books. Interesting so far but we shall see how the author links it back to the original ones considering the "hero" died at the end of the 6th book.
