"Old" games

There was a big bit of videogame news this morning where it was announced that Grand Theft Auto Vice City (arguably the best GTA game due to it's 80s setting) is going to be released on iOS and Android platforms in 2 weeks. It feels weird that a game that I specifically went to a shop on release day to get since I was so looking forward to it is now going to be a $5 handheld game that can run on phones. I'm not sure how you can play a game like that on phones but still it is quite a fun thing to do.

Then take the fact that even older games just got released on the PS3 online store last night. All the Doom and Doom 2 various levels and expansion packs on one 100Meg download. I've played most of those (although never actually paid for them :| ) but it speaks to their influence and being still relevant this much later, almost 20 years later in fact. It's weird to see for one of the longer term older gamers like me. Still at least it means newer generations can enjoy the games.

I'm just glad I'm able to see quality when I do and hold on to it over the years. Take my wife for example, I found her quite a while ago now and am still with her since she is the best. Older things can be really good and get better with age. Not all that is new is the best.
