I really am a posting machine sometimes

I have way too many thoughts during the day that I can't help but write them down. Take this thought for example. I'm middle aged (something that I thought would never happen, aren't we all young forever?) and feeling a bit old and over the hill as a consequence. As part of my job I get to screen resumes for a few positions we have open here. I see a lot of people in their late twenties and early thirties applying since those are the people who most likely have the amount of experience we are looking for to fill the positions.

One position we are looking to hire for though we want someone with a lot of experience, we are talking 15 to 20 years worth. They need to know their shit. I came across a resume (I still think that is a silly word, growing up as I did with using CV instead (curriculum vitae if you must know)) where the person graduated from university in 1980, not just with a bachelors but with a masters which means they did at least 4 or 5 years. Holy crap, I wasn't even in double digits age in 1980 and I have a say in this persons life. Making those kind of decisions for younger people is easier, I've been where they are, can see it from their point of view and can understand what would be best. Making the decision from this point of view though seems more daunting but then I think, this is the position I have here, I get to decide these things so I'm going to make damn sure I make the right decision.

On a totally unrelated other thought I've started looking at volunteer programs near home as something let me help people. My wife found one that looks interesting I might call soon.

Another brief update, still no sign of our chav neighbours according to the wife. It is looking good.
